Abstract

Membranes are permeable or semipermeable phases which are generally in the form of thin polymer solids that can withstand the movement of certain materials. Membrane technology is one of the technologies that can be developed to support industrial wastewater treatment such as the pulp and paper industry. Membranes can be made from polymeric materials such as cellulose acetate. The purpose of this research is to make cellulose acetate membrane with variations annealing temperature and to study the effect of annealing temperature on the performance of membranes in treatment the wastewater pulp and paper. The results obtained membrane has a flux of 27.4-34.1 L/m2hr, and rejection value 59,3-64,2% of COD, 65,774,79% of BOD5 and 62,21-69,77% of TSS. Increasing the annealing temperature will reduce pores, improve mechanical properties, reduce flux and enlarge rejection. Keywords: cellulose acetate, membrane, pineapple leaf, wastewater
