Abstract

Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB)  is a contagious infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium Tuberculosis that attacks the lungs. The prevalence pulmonary TB  can be prevented when patients with pulmonary TB have good behavior for preventing of pulmonary TB transmission especially to family members. This study aimed to determine the factors related to patients behavior for preventing pulmonary TB transmission to family members in Sidomulyo Community Health Care Pekanbaru. The method used a descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. Samples are 46 respondents taken based on inclusion criteria using purposive sampling. This study used a questionnaire as a measuring tool that has measured the validity and reliability. Results were analyzed using Chi-square and alternative with Fisher's Exact test. The results show a significant correlation between family support and patients behavior for preventing pulmonary TB transmission to family members with p value (0,015) < α (0,05). There is no correlation between knowledge (p value 0,478), availability anti-TB drugs (p value 0,640) and patients behavior for preventing pulmonary TB transmission to family members. Based on the result, it is recommended to health workers in Community Health Care to improve services in providing education about pulmonary TB to patients and their families.
