STRATEGI ADAPTASI BERTAHAN HIDUP MANTAN KARYAWAN PASCA PHK (STUDI DI PT. ASIA CITRA KECAMATAN TANAH PUTIH TANJUNG MELAWAN KABUPATEN ROKAN HILIR)

Abstract


The village of Labuhan Papan is one of the village in the downstream Rokan district, where in the village of Labuhan Papan stand PT. Asia Citra in 1983 is a plywood manufacturing company. In 2017 Asia Citra went bankrupt which had to terminate employment with 1800 employess and workers. This causes employees to lose their jobs and income, especially the people of Labuhan Papan village, the majority of whom work at PT. Asia Citra image. So that researchers are interested in conducting research on how survival strategies are carried out by former employees of PT. Asia Citra to make ends meet after not working at PT. Asia Citra image. In this study, the author uses a qualitative method with a qualitative descriptive approach. The data collection technique used is by observation, interviews and documentation. In the study, the researcher uses Suharto’s concept of adaptation strategy, in which there are three strategic points, namely active strategy, passive strategy, and social network strategy. The results of the study found by researchers in Labuhan Papan village were Suharto’s strategy. An active strategy  is to find a side job, by utilizing all the potential that exist in the family to increase income, and take advantage of the natural surroundings. The passive strategy is by prioritizing the needs that are considered important and the last is the network strategy namely by lending money to families or cooperative if the family’s financial situation is urgent.
