Abstract


Truant behavior is one form of behaviors which deviates from the regulations. It is an action or behavior of students that violates the school norm by not being present at the school with unclear reason and they leave certain school hours or all day long not entering the class without permission from the related teachers. This research was conducted at State Senior High School 1 Rumbio Jaya located in Tambusai Village, Rumbio Jaya Sub District, Kampar Regency. The purposes of this research were to find out (1) the factors which influence students in doing school truant at State Senior High School 1 Rumbio Jaya, and (2) to find out the impact of school truant at State Senior High School 1 Rumbio Jaya. The theory used was functional structural theory. The method used in this research was descriptive quantitative with data collection techniques were questionnaire, observation, and documentation with total samples 61 students selected by employing simple random sampling. From the research result in the field, the students who cut class at State Senior High School 1 Rumbio Jaya are dominated by male students. The research results show that the students cut the class in each shift of the subject hours. There are two factors that cause students cutting the class namely first the internal factor; the most dominant is coming late to school, while from the external factor, the most dominant is the feeling of dislike towards the teachers who teach. On the other hand, the impact of truant behavior which mostly experienced by the students are such as left behind in the class, difficulty in mastering the subject, and the score obtained is not satisfying.
