Abstract


Abstract: The development of the times influenced the shift in every part of the tradisional marriage ceremony of the Toba Batak people. The shift in question means adding or reducing certain obligations in the marriages ceremony. The implimentation of the Na Gok tradisional ceremony of the Toba Batak community is carried out in a long time and process, now it is shortened by the term ulaon realize. The stages in the Na Gok tradisional ceremony begin with manuruk-nuruk, pasahat situtungon, martonggo raja and the Na Gok traditional party. In general, the shortened stages of the traditional events when viewed from a time perspective are very beneficial because they provide the community with the opportunity to persue other needs. The objectives of this study are 1) To find out the procedures for implementing the Na Gok Customary. 2) To find out the meaning and value of the Na Gok indigenous tradition. 3) To find out the cause of the shift in the Na Gok Custom 4) To determine the impact of the shift in the Na Gok Tradition. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach method. The research location is Siarang-arang Village, Pujud District, Rokan Hilir Regency. The result of this study indicate that there is a shift in the Na Gok Indigeneous marriage in the Toba Batak community in Siarang-arang Village, which has both positive and negative impacts.
