Abstract


Abstract: This study examines the writing skills of students in class Vii SMP Negeri 16 Pekanbaru. The research objectives were to determine the ability to write rhymes, to determine the differences in students' abilities between sample groups, to determine the ability to write rhymes sampiran, and to determine the ability to write the contents of the rhyme content of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 16 Pekanbaru. This study has a population of 84 and a sample of 69. The data of this study are the results of the student's answer test in the seventh grade students' rhyme writing test of SMP Negeri 16 Pekanbaru. This study used an instrument in the form of a writing test (essay) and observation. The data in this research are the results of the assessment in the form of scores on the writing test of the seventh grade rhymes of SMP Negeri 16 Pekanbaru. The test instructs students to write rhymes with the topics that have been provided and pay attention to the verse verse, lines, rhymes, sampiran and content. Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive methods through tests to determine the level of writing skills of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 16 Pekanbaru. One-way ANOVA test to determine differences in the ability to write rhymes of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 16 Pekanbaru between sample groups. The results of this study were a test of the ability to write rhymes for seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 16 Pekanbaru, which was classified as high with an average score.
