Abstract


Abstract: Letda Endut Gani is one of the leaders in the education sector in Riau province. Letda Endut Gani was born in Bagan Si Api-Api on June 26, 1928 by parents named Datuk Abdul Gani and Fatimah. Letda Endut Gani is the second child of nine children. And play a role in the educational world. The purpose of this study was to establish the background of Letda Endut Gani's life, to determine the role of Letda Endut Gani as a fighter figure in the defense of Indonesian independence in 1945-1949 in Bengkalis and to end the struggle of Letda Endut Gani. The data analysis used the historical writing method that consisted of several stages, namely heuristics, verification, interpretation and historiography. The result of this research is the role of Letda Endut Gani in the defense of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in 1945-1949 in Bengkalis, as deputy commander of the guerrilla war he led troops in Bengkalis during the Second Dutch Military Aggression and as a fighter at the defense of Indonesian independence in Bengkalis. Attempts were made towards the end of his struggle when Letda Endut Gani took part in the suppression of the PRRI uprising in Riau. Letda Endut Gani was involved in the liberation of Bengkalis and Selatpanjang from PRRI. After the end of the fight, Letda Endut Gani was stationed in the Pekanbaru area. When he retired, Letda Endut Gani joined the Veterans Legion Organization of the Republic of Indonesia. Letda Endut Gani received many awards from the government.
