Abstract


Abstract: The purpose of this research is to describe and explain the percentage of student ability levels and mistakes made by students of 2017 and 2018 Japanese Study Program FKIP Riau University in determining the yarimorai verbs. This research uses quantitative and qualitative methods with a total of 89 respondents. Data collection techniques are done by giving a written test consisting of multiple choice tests, short entries, and making sentences. Based on the data analysis, the results show that the ability of students in determining the yarimorai verbs is categorized as low with a percentage of 48.70 percent. The most common errors are found in ~te morau verb that occur due to the lack of students understanding of marker particles, subject and object absorption, the concept of uchi-soto.
