Abstract


This study aimed to finding out the effect of perceptions, abilities, lecturers and peers on the motivation of choosing concentrations among 2017 Management Major student in the Faculty of Economics and Business, Riau University. The population in this study included 235 students majoring in 2017 management class. The method used to collect data in this study was using a questionnaire as an instrument to prove the results of the study and used multiple linear regression analysis to test the hypothesis. The Sampling technique used for this study is Slovin method with 148 students of 2017 that majoring in Economics and Business major of Riau University as the sample. The Results of this study indicated that: 1) Perceptions, abilities, lecturers, and peers all together has a significant effect on the motivation of choosing concentration among students. 2) Perceptions has a positive and significant effect on the motivation of choosing concentration among students. 3) The ability variable does not have a significant effect on the motivation of choosing concentration among students. 4) The lecturer variable has a significant effect on the motivation of choosing concentration among students. 5) The peer variable does not have a significant effect on the motivation of choosing concentration among students.
